Welcome to Back Institute
Welcome to The New York Back Institute. Back Institute is the pre-eminent center in the world for Non-Traumatic Spine Surgery. A Non-Traumatic discectomy can provide an effective way to decompress and repair damages discs without traumatic, permanent spine-altering surgery. It is effective, low risk, and allows for a faster return to work and to daily activities. Patients are discharged the same day of the procedure with just a band-aid. There are no stitches.

Only very recently have surgeons begun to experiment with less traumatic spine surgery procedures. However, the Back Institute has had over twenty years of experience in developing the field of outpatient, non-traumatic (spine friendly) surgery, equipment, and techniques. Back Institute's specialty in non-traumatic discectomy procedures has been favorably reviewed by world-renowned leaders in spine surgery.

What is Herniated disc [herniated disk]?
Herniated discs are often referred to as "slipped discs". This term derived from the action of the nucleus tissue when it is forced from the center of the disc. The disc itself does not slip. However, the nucleus tissues located in the center of the disc can be placed under so much pressure that it can cause the annulus to herniated or rupture against one or more of the spinal nerves which can cause pain, numbness, or weakness in the low back. leg or foot.
Other names used for herniated discs are "prolapsed", "bulging", "ruptured".
You can have a herniated disc in any part of your spine.
Treatments for herniated discs.: The first common treatment for herniated disc is the aforementioned "Conservative Therapy," bed rest, pain medication, and physiotherapy. If conservative therapy does not bring enough pain relief, surgical procedures may be considered. More..
What is Non Traumatic Spine Surgery
A Non-Traumatic Discectomy is an outpatient surgical procedure to remove herniated disc material
A Non Traumatic Discectomy is different from an open lumbar disc surgery because there is no traumatic back muscle dissection, no bone removal, and no large skin incision. The risk of complications from scarring, blood loss, infection, and anesthesia that may occur with conventional surgery are drastically reduced or eliminated with this procedure. Non Traumatic Discectomy was invented to be an effective treatment for herniated discs while avoiding these risks.
The primary advantage of this outpatient procedure is that it is effective and very low risk since there is no interferences with the muscles, bones, joints or manipulation of the nerves in your lower back area. Since the insertion of the probe through the muscle in the only wound, there is no scarring in or around the nerves. Because the Non Traumatic Discectomy procedure is performed on an outpatient basis, you may be allowed to return home the day of the procedure. Many patients worldwide fly in for the procedure and fly out the next day.
